Delete your Alpha Community account

This page explains how to request deletion of your Alpha Community account and the personal data associated with it, what gets deleted, what is kept, and for how long.

Deletion as a self-service

Account deletion is fully self-service — you shouldn't need to contact us.

  1. Open the Alpha Community app (or sign in at community.alpha.school).
  2. Tap the Account tab in the bottom navigation bar.
  3. Scroll to the bottom of the Account screen.
  4. Tap Delete Account (below Log Out).
  5. Read the notice on "Delete your account?", then tap Continue.
  6. On "This cannot be undone", tick "I understand my account cannot be recovered from the app".
  7. Tap Delete my account.

Your account is closed immediately, and you are signed out. You will not be able to sign in again, and there is no way to undo this from the app.

If you can't sign in

If you have lost access to your account and cannot complete the steps above:

  1. Sign in to our Support Portal using the same email address on your account.
  2. Ask for your Alpha Community account to be deleted.
  3. We will verify your identity before acting on the request.

What happens immediately

  • Your sign-in is permanently blocked — your account cannot be used again.
  • Every active session and access token is revoked on all your devices.
  • Push notifications are switched off, and your device tokens are revoked.
  • You are removed from all of your chat conversations, including group chats and direct messages.

What is deleted after 30 days

Your personal data is erased 30 days after you confirm. This short window exists only so that, if you deleted your account by mistake, Alpha support can restore it — see Changed your mind? below.

After the window elapses, the following are permanently deleted:

  • Your login. Your sign-in credentials and authentication record are permanently deleted, which releases your email address for reuse.
  • Your profile and contact details:
    • First and last name,
    • Email address,
    • Phone number,
    • Handle,
    • Any text in the "about me" section, and
    • Your address (street, city, ZIP code, country, and approximate location).
  • Your household link (you are detached from your family's household),
  • Personalisation and matching data:
    • AI-generated summaries about you and their derived embeddings,
    • Your parent-matching requests and the free text you wrote in them, and
    • Your recommendation counters.
  • Your private activity:
    • Saved/bookmarked posts,
    • Hearts and reactions you gave,
    • Questions you followed, and
    • Mentions of you.
  • Your invitations and codes:
    • Household invitations you sent (their links stop working),
    • Your program memberships, and
    • Your referral code.
  • Support requests you opened about yourself.
  • Your CRM contact record is flagged as deleted in the app and is no longer linked to your profile.

What is kept, and why

  • Posts and comments you wrote in shared discussions are not deleted.
    • Removing them would rewrite conversations other parents are still reading.
    • They remain, re-attributed to an anonymous "Deleted Member" with every identifying detail about you stripped out.
  • Your family's school records are kept:
    • Your household, your children's records, enrollment status and history, payments and billing records, and academic reports.
    • These belong to your child, not to your app account, and Alpha School retains them for as long as required by its record-keeping and legal obligations.
    • Deleting your app account does not cancel enrollment and does not stop billing — to cancel either, contact the school directly.
  • Household recognition and contribution totals are kept because they are your family's, not yours alone, and contain no text about you.
  • Other parents in your household keep their own accounts and access.
    • Nothing about their account, your household, or your children is changed.
    • Any site votes cast from your account are transferred to another adult in your household; if nobody remains, they are deleted.
  • An internal record that a deletion was requested and completed is kept.
    • The date requested, the date completed, and an internal account identifier.
    • It contains no name, email, or other personal detail.
    • It is automatically deleted one year after the deletion is completed.

Changed your mind?

Within 30 days of your request, and only within that window, Alpha support may be able to restore your account.

  1. Sign in to our Support Portal using the same email address on your account.
  2. Ask for your Alpha Community account deletion to be reverted.

Contact us as soon as possible.

After 30 days, your data is gone and cannot be recovered. There is deliberately no way to reverse a deletion from the app.
