Who uses Lalilo?
- Lalilo is designed to support students from PreK to 2nd grade until they have an RIT score of 190.
- At this time, it is mostly used for students outside the Austin and Brownsville campuses, but it should be fully implemented on every campus starting Session 2.
How to access Lalilo
- Lalilo can be accessed directly via the URL: https://student.lalilo.com/
- Once in, the student will see a screen with a "Play" symbol
- After clicking it, the app will request a school code. If you are a guide, you can use this by following the School Code section.
- Students should click on "I am at home" at the bottom of the screen
- This will redirect students to input their personal code, which can be found on their Dash credentials
- Once done, the student will be able to see the Map, corresponding to the main screen of Lalilo
Working in the app
-
Each topic is named after the concept it is teaching e.g. ‘Letter M’, “Nouns’, ‘Capitalization: Geography’. This title is displayed at the start of every new topic.
-
Each topic requires students to complete ~5 lessons. Each lesson has between 3-5 questions.
- As you can see in this image, the interface will show the student's progress in the topic along with the number of questions in each lesson
- If students need the instruction repeated, they can click on the top right icon.
NOTE: If the student navigates away from the Lalilo screen, the verbal instruction won't be heard, so they will need to repeat it. -
Lalilo requires a 90% accuracy to consider a lesson mastered and 5 lessons mastered for the topic to be considered complete.
Mastery
- A student should master an entire topic (5 lessons of 3-5 questions) to receive a mastered lesson for 2H learning.
- This can be determined with the "Student Report", which is accessible to the support team.
- From the students and guide's perspective, they will get a "mastered" lesson every time they are awarded a new badge
- 2 mastered topics should be the standard for a 2H session credit.
Initial Assessment
-
Lalilo has two placement tests students take prior to starting the sequence.
-
Each test is ~ 30 questions and takes about 10 minutes to complete.
-
The placement tests count as a mastered skill for 2H learning.
- They are shown as completed with a gold star on the learning pathway.
-
They cannot be skipped and they do not influence the student’s learning sequence.
Lesson Assignment
- The sequence of skills will be manually assigned by the support team on initial enrollment.
- Each level has a defined number of skills in this program:
-
Grade K - 107 skills
-
Grade 1 - 111 skills
-
Grade 2 - 106 skills
-
- If there are any issues with this assignment, please contact the Support Team.
