Why is Reading Missing During Bracketing?

Overview

Students and Guides may notice students missing Reading during the bracketing process.

To ensure our students are working in the correct Knowledge levels, we carefully evaluate their current skills by administering successive tests. This bracketing process helps us identify key areas that require improvement, known as Knowledge Gaps.

Reading tests reveal Language Knowledge Gaps, unlike tests from other subjects that always reveal Knowledge Gaps for the same subject. So, this pause is normal and occurs because Language Knowledge Gaps must be addressed before proceeding with further Reading tests.

The pause is not a cause for concern but rather an opportunity for students to strengthen their Language skills, which are essential for better reading comprehension.

Next steps for students

Language is crucial for reading comprehension. Those Language Knowledge Gaps build a stronger foundation in Language that improves reading comprehension skills and helps them succeed in the next Reading test.

Therefore, students should follow these steps to unblock further Reading tests:

  1. Complete Assigned Language Lessons: Focus on completing all assigned Language Knowledge Gap lessons.
  2. Assignment of Next Reading Test: Once all Language Knowledge Gap lessons are completed, we will assign the next Reading test.

Summary

Reading tests reveal Language Knowledge Gaps, unlike tests from other subjects that always reveal Knowledge Gaps for the same subject. Students must complete all Knowledge Gaps revealed by a test before further assessments, so this might be perceived as an issue when there aren't other Reading assignments. However, this is the normal flow:

Reading test → Language Gap identified → Complete Language lessons → Next Reading test
