Wondering when you’ll be ready to move to the next grade level? To progress, you’ll need to demonstrate mastery of your current grade level in that subject.
How to move up to the next grade
-
Complete your assigned lessons for the grade you’re currently working on.
- Work through your assigned lessons in order (top to bottom).
- These lessons are chosen to build the skills you need most at your current level.
-
Take the Standardized Test when it is assigned.
- Tests are typically assigned after you complete your lessons for your current grade. In some cases, you may have an option to take a test earlier.
- Read each question carefully and do your best work.
-
Review your result.
- If you passed: You’ll begin receiving lessons from the next grade level for that subject.
- If you didn’t pass yet: Continue to the next step.
-
Complete any new lessons you receive.
- Based on your test results, you may receive either:
- Targeted lessons connected to questions you missed.
- Lessons from the next grade that allow you to continue learning.
- Complete them carefully, even if you feel like you’ve seen a similar skill before.
- Based on your test results, you may receive either:
-
Retake the test when it becomes available again.
- Repeat the cycle until you pass.
What to expect after your test
- You may see new lessons added after your test—this is normal and is meant to help you improve specific skills.
- Moving up is subject-by-subject. You may move up in one subject before another.
FAQ
- Why am I still seeing lessons from my current grade?
If you haven’t passed the test yet (or you have new lessons to complete), you’ll continue receiving practice at your current grade level. - Why did I get a lesson I think I already mastered?
Sometimes a skill can be assigned again to help strengthen your foundation. Complete the lessons as assigned. - What if the grade label I see in an app looks different than what I expected?
Don’t worry about how the app labels the grades—focus on completing your assigned lessons in order.
